I'm Nikolay Konovalov, but feel free to call me Nik.

Who are you? #

I'm a Software Engineer. It's my job to bang my head against problems. And it seems this is still a skill we are getting paid for!

My journey began with a bare-bones laptop and LAMP stack. I had to implement guestbook 3 times before I got my first job offer:

  1. Plain HTML, PHP, SQL, a bit of CSS
  2. as Moodle plugin
  3. Free Dean's Office plugin for Moodle

That was June-August, 2013.

Currently I'm in Warsaw, Poland.

Currently actively searching for opportunities (as of April 1st, 2026)!

I'd never pass on a small research project or just an idea. So hit me with what you've got.

Budgets matter less when we have a vision. And I'm genuinely excited working with people that want to make a positive impact, and even just slightly but make our world better.

Note on B2B / Full-time employment (UOP) #

I'm on B2B/JDG though, so apologies to all the big tech companies 🙇 I cannot do UOP / full-time employment contracts at the moment. Reason is I still have to prove my business income to get the next residence permit extension. Until 2028-2029, when I supposedly receive EU long-term residence permit.
